Que faire au lac d'annecy

Our top 10 things to do on your holiday to Lake Annecy

boat annecy

1. Annecy by boat –

Ditch the car and take the beautiful boat trip to Annecy from the ferry port of Doussard plage (30 mins walk from the campsites). Annecy is a beautiful city to visit and the boat trip enables you to also see the lake and is a trip in itself and also a stress-free way of visiting Annecy!

2. Col de La Forclaz - For the best view over the lake!

Drive from the campsite (or if feeling energetic enough, cycle) up to the famous beauty spot over lake Annecy, Col de la Forclaz! From here, you can see the paragliders taking off over the lake and you will marvel at the fantastic view over the lake and of the mountain behind, La Tournette. Up here you will find some lovely restaurants offering local alpine dishes such as Tartiflette, Raclette and Fondu. Top Tip!! – If you’re looking to have a memorable meal on your holiday, this is the place to go at sunset with a couple of restaurants offering panoramic views over the Lake, you will not regret it! See our blog article for information about the Edelweiss restuarant.

3. Visit one of the many lake beaches

Visit one of the beautiful lake beaches that Lake Annecy has to offer. For young children, go to the beach of St Jorioz which boasts a sandy beach, diving boards, playground, cafe & toilet facilities and a safe swimming area with gradual decline into the lake. The other top choice is Angon or Talloires over the other side of the lake (10-minute drive from the campsite), these are grassy beach areas and boast beautiful mountain views.

4. Go for a bike ride On the beautiful off-road cycle path to Annecy

Hire a bike from the Camping la Ravoire / Les Fontaines bike hire store or take your own bike around Lake Annecy on the fabulous off road, flat, family friendly cycle path. The cycle path of lake Annecy (also known as the Greenway), runs along the west side of the lake off road for 19 km between Annecy and Doussard and also beyond to Albertville. On the other side of the lake there a few sections of the bike path that are on the road, therefore this side is only recommended for adults.

If you are a road biker, you can ride one of the famous Tour De France trails such as The Semnoz, The Col de La Forclaz, The Col de Croix Fry… there are many to choose from and to keep you pro bikers entertained!!

5. Go for a walk or a Hike – The french alpine mountains are calling!

There are numerous beautiful walks and hikes to do on Lake Annecy for all ages and levels. If you are a family with young children, you can visit the fabulous Doussard nature reserve which is located next to the beach of Doussard. This nature reserve is flat, accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs and has some lovely lookout points over the lake. It is set in forest and reedlands and is a fabulous place to take your camera and get some shots of the lake. There is also a cute lookout point over the lake.

Or, if you fancy a bit more of a hike but not something too strenuous, the Angon waterfall walk is a fantastic option and is doable with children who can walk. You can choose to park 15 minutes walk away from the waterfall above Talloires or you can park at the bottom at Angon or Talloires and walk up through the forest.

For the more active and fit, you can hike the highest and most famous mountain of the Annecy mountains, La Tournette. La Tournette is situated at 1,514m and stands prominently over lake Annecy. This day hike is fantastic and offers amazing views over Lake Annecy and the surrounding mountains.

6. La Sambuy ski station –

Located only a 30 minute drive from our campsites, La Sambuy is a firm favourite with our customers and offers a fun family day out in the mountains. Take the chairlift up to the top to experience stunning views over the lake and surrounding mountains. Up the top there are a variety of walks and hikes for everyone. Back down the bottom, the summer luge, tubby jump and go-karting activities offer fun for all the family.

7. Paragliding–

Did you know that Lake Annecy is one of the most popular destinations in the world for paragliders? Take the flight of your life over the lake and you will experience magnificent views of Lake Annecy and its surrounding mountains. This will be a once in a lifetime experience that you will cherish forever. You can take a tandem paragliding flight from the Col De La Forclaz and land in the landing field at Doussard which is located only a 40 minute walk from the campsites. The paragliding companies that we work with take you up in the mini bus so all you have to do is get to the nearby landing field!

chamonix

8. Chamonix -

Chamonix is a once in a lifetime daytrip to experience when you visit the French Alps!

Visit this famous French alpine town and take the Aiguille Du Midi tele-cabin to see the Mont Blanc glacier. Marvel at the glacier and step into the glass box! Afterwards, you can take the train to see the ‘sea of ice’ (Mer du glace) which is equally impressive and visit the ice cave. Chamonix itself is a beautiful town with many restaurants, cafes and outdoors shops so there is plenty to do here for the day!

Chamonix is located approximately 1hr 30mins from Camping La Ravoire and Camping Les Fontaines and although it can be an expensive day out, is a once in a life time day trip that is very popular with our customers.

Top tip - Leave the camp early in the morning on a clear, sunny day to make a day of it and if you are visiting in July/ August, pre-book your tickets online!

canyoning

9. Canyoning

If you like adrenaline fuelled activities and adventure, you cannot miss canyoning in either the Angon or Montmin canyons on Lake Annecy. There are various courses to do from 8 years plus for all levels including family discovery courses up to more hardcore canyoning for those who have previously done it or who are confident in the water and not afraid of heights!

10. Tree Top Adventuring

A great alternative adventure to canyoning or paragliding for children over 1 metre (or older children & adults), the treetop adventure course located above Talloires; Acro’Aventures is a very popular activity.
