Abbaye et Fort de Tamié Culture and adventure at the Col de Tamié

The Abbey of Notre-Dame de Tamié is a Cistercian monastery founded in 1133 and renowned for the production of Tamié cheese. Close to the monastery is the Fort de Tamié, which was used to defend the Alpine valleys. Its architecture, botanical trail, breathtaking viewpoints and adventure park make it the ideal place to spend an afternoon with the family.

The most important military building in the Combe de Savoie region, Fort de Tamié is open to visitors free of charge. Perched on a rocky spur, this late-19th-century stronghold is a unique site, offering magnificent views over the Albertville valley. On site, you’ll find 16 hectares of landscaped grounds to explore, a snack bar and ice cream parlour, botanical paths and signposted hiking trails, 3 lookouts and an orientation table, as well as underground galleries and rooms with free access. In the heart of the fort, the Acrofort adventure park offers 10 courses of varying levels for family fun in a privileged setting. It includes a 300-meter-long zip line perched at a height of 70 meters. The Fort de Tamié site also features a children’s playground with trampolines, water pools and inflatable games, an early-learning area for toddlers, and a lounge area for parents, who can keep an eye on their children in the most comfortable way. Between history, landscapes, relaxation and outdoor leisure activities, Fort de Tamié is an ideal family destination. Don’t forget to stop off at the Tamié cheese dairy to taste and buy the Cistercian abbey’s products.
