Top 10 sporting activities in and around Lake Annecy

1. Tandem paragliding flight

You can’t visit Lake Annecy without taking a tandem paragliding flight. It’s a truly unique experience. Choose your time, your formula and fly like a bird over Lake Annecy. Tandem paragliding is very safe. You’ll be with a professional, experienced instructor who’ll get you flying so you can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery! 2. Hiking

The hiking possibilities on Lake Annecy are endless. From relaxing lakeside strolls at Menthon St Bernard to sporty hikes on the mountains of La Tournette or Mont Veyrier, this is one of Annecy’s finest randos. Via Ferrata

4. Lake sports

Rent a stand-up paddle, kayak, boat or pedalo on the beach at Doussard and try your hand at one of the many water sports available on Lake Annecy, such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, water skiing or wakeboarding.

5. Canyoning

Canyoning is an excellent activity for adventurers. You can start canyoning from the age of 8 upwards, and there are different courses for all ages, from beginners to experts. Canyoning involves jumping off rocks into deep gullies, sliding down natural slides and abseiling down canyons. There are 2 canyons on Lake Annecy; Montmin & Angon, and both offer sensational outings!

For families, outings are organized to a magnificent, quieter canyon in the heart of the Bauges. Top Tip – We’re working with Hydrogène-sports, Monté Medio and Takamaka to offer our customers a small discount on canyoning. Come to reception to take advantage!

6. Cycling

Ride the 40 km cycle path around Lake Annecy or venture further afield on the famous Tour de France routes of “Le Semnoz” or “Col de La Forclaz” and many others. See here for cycle routes in the region.

7. ATV

For mountain biking, there are different options depending on whether you want to go it alone, take a guided tour or go cross-country or downhill. For downhill biking, head for the La Clusaz resorts of Le Semnoz or La Sambuy. For cross-country, leave directly from the campsite and take the Faverges loop trail, or take your bike up to the magnificent Col De Aravis and take the cross-country course, which takes you on a trail with fantastic views of Mont Blanc. Tip – From the campsites, there’s a free bus service in July and August that takes you and your bike to La Sambuy. You can then take the chairlift to the summit and cycle down, then cross-country back to the campsite!

8. Tree climbing

There are 2 treetop adventure courses near Lake Annecy, “Acro’Aventures” and “Fort de Tamie”. Acro’Aventures in Talloires is the place to go if you’re looking for a fun tree-top activity! The park is located above the lake and offers great views from the course! Perfect for adults and children alike, it’s a fantastic place for those who are sporty and not afraid of heights to spend a few hours! Tip – Have a picnic and watch the paragliders take off from the paraglider take-off area located here.

The Fort de Tamie is also an excellent alternative, offering 10 adventure courses. There’s also a playground, store and café, and plenty of places to picnic. Just a 30-minute drive from our campsite, it’s the perfect family sporting activity to enjoy during your stay!


9. Rafting

If you go a little further afield (1 hr drive), there are some interesting rafting possibilities to discover. The Isère river offers fantastic rafting, so if you like water and adventure, you won’t be bored!

10. Diving

Believe it or not, you can scuba dive or snorkel at Lake Annecy! In July and August, our campsites offer introductory scuba diving sessions in the pool for children under 18. If they like it and want to do more, you can book excursions to Lake Annecy. There’s also a famous shipwreck known as “Le France”, which was the last paddle-steamer to sail Lake Annecy. The ship sank in March 1971 at a depth of 42 meters, and now Level 3 divers can dive to see it.
