EPICUREAN RETIREES

A program for retirees who take time to enjoy life

Among the 7 families at the campsite, there are the epicurean retirees:
You like to take advantage of life and vacations to visit, of course, but also … to treat yourself!
At Lake Annecy you’ll find beautiful walks as well as visits rich in heritage and gastronomy.

Perfect for a quiet, cool stay in May, June or September. Our campsite is located at an altitude of 500m, so the nights are cool and the days mild to warm. Outside school vacations, the campsite is not fully booked, but all services are open: store, swimming pools, bar and restaurant. In low season, pets are allowed and all rentals (except tents) have TV.

Here are some ideas for short- and long-stay programs to make sure you don’t miss a thing and get the most out of your vacation at Campings Annecy.

Weekend program at Campings Annecy

Friday and Saturday mornings

Arrival on Friday afternoon from 3pm: After settling into your rentals, set off on foot from the campsite to the Doussard beach.

The route we suggest allows you to avoid traffic: about 15 minutes’ walk. A small beach to the right of the restaurant “chez ma cousine” allows dogs to swim.

In the evenings, you can try our bar-restaurant, whose varied menu offers Savoyard specialities as well as classics such as pizzas, salads and entrecote frites.

Saturday morning : Cruise on Lake Annecy with a stopover to visit the old town.
Take the boat at the Doussard beach (1.3 km from the campsite) to avoid traffic jams and parking problems in Annecy. One-hour cruise (one way) with guided tour and magnificent views. You disembark just opposite the Vieilles Prisons and at the foot of the château. Return by boat at either 2 or 4:45 pm.

Saturday and Sunday

Saturday late afternoon: Relax in the campsite pools, on the deckchairs or play a game of pétanque on our courts next to the playground!
For the evening meal, we lend you charcoal barbecues for a real camping atmosphere.

Sunday : Hike to the Roc de Chère nature reserve in Talloires. About 15 minutes’ drive from the campsite. Parking at the Golf course. The difference in altitude is not very great, 250m. You can walk between 1h and 2h30 depending on the route you choose. The paths are well marked, the terrain shady and the views over the lake unmissable!
You may also prefer to visit the Château de Menthon, a few kilometers away, perched on a belvedere overlooking the lake.
On the way back, stop off at the village of Talloires, famous for its bay and its gourmet restaurants (l’Abbaye de Talloires, Jean Supplice, le Cottage Bise, and many others).

Perfect for a quiet, cool stay in May, June or September. Our campsite is located at an altitude of 500m, so the nights are cool and the days mild to warm. Outside the school vacations, the campsite is not fully booked, but all services are open: store, swimming pools, bar and restaurant.
The best idea is to rent a large mobile home or three-bedroom chalet and bring friends or just enjoy the space. All mobile homes and chalets are equipped with TV.
Pets are accepted outside July and August, up to a limit of two per rental.

Day 1 and Day 2

Day 1: Cruise on Lake Annecy with a stopover to visit the old town.
Take the boat in the morning from the Doussard beach (1.3 km from the campsite) to avoid traffic jams and parking problems in Annecy. One-hour cruise (one way) with guided tour and magnificent views. You disembark just opposite the Vieilles Prisons and at the foot of the château. Return by boat at either 2 or 4:45 pm.

You can choose to visit the old town on a market day (Sunday, Tuesday and Friday) or not. The market is very large, with mainly food stalls. It’s very busy, so be prepared to see a lot of people.

Day 2: Visit the Gorges du Fier, Château de Montrottier (Lovagny) or the Secret Gardens.
The lake flows into the Fier, a river that has carved spectacularly through the limestone over the centuries. A footbridge allows you to admire the canyon in complete safety. Take advantage of your proximity to visit Château de Montrottier, a place of legends and history.

Another place not to be missed: the Secret Gardens. It’s an old, renovated family farm with a mosaic of small Baroque gardens covering 7,000m². For lovers of interior architecture, flowers and gardens.
On presentation of your campsite wristband, you will receive one reduced-rate ticket for every normal ticket purchased. vIn the evening, you can try our bar-restaurant, whose varied menu offers Savoyard specialities as well as classics such as pizzas, salads and entrecôte frites.

Day 3: Day trip to Chamonix-Mont Blanc

Chamonix is famous for its proximity to Mont Blanc. From the town, the cable car takes you to an altitude of over 3800m.

A change of scenery, thrills and chills guaranteed! Remember to bring pants, sweaters and windbreakers, as it’s usually below 5°C even in summer. An ice cavern is carved out of the Mer de glace every year. A cog railway takes you up from Chamonix. Be warned, however, that 200 steps to the glacier await you as you leave the train.

The secret: get up early! It takes at least 1h30 to drive to Megève. With the Pass’ journée you can take the aiguille du midi cable car and visit the Mer de Glace for a few extra euros.

Day 4 and Day 5

Day 4: Thursday morning: Talloires market and village tour. Famous for its bay and gourmet restaurants (l’Abbaye de Talloires, Jean Supplice, le Cottage Bise, and many others).

Nearby, you can hike to Roc de Chère or Cascade d’Angon (steeper), or visit Château de Menthon Saint Bernard. By car, you can drive up to Col de la Forclaz and stop off at Saint Germain l’Hermitage. We warmly recommend a traditional meal in one of the three restaurants on the Col de la Forclaz. The views are magnificent, especially at sunset, and the prices are very reasonable.

Day 5: Visit to the Roselend dam and cormet with a stopover in the village of Beaufort

Just 50 minutes from the campsite is the pretty village of Beaufort. Famous for its cheese, it has retained its soul and authenticity. Stop off at the cheese dairy to find out how it’s made and, of course, taste a piece of this delicious AOC.

Then on to the Roselend dam, the titanic construction of the hydroelectric power station. Signs explain its history, and the pedestrian bridge offers a magnificent panorama.
You can then take the route du Cormet de Roselend, a Tour de France itinerary on many occasions, before crossing into Italy and descending into the Aosta Valley via the Col du Petit Saint Bernard.
You can return to the campsite by the same route, or via the Mont Blanc tunnel and Chamonix.
